TOUR DESCRIPTION

This tour suggests for you Erdenezuu Monastery, one of Mongolia's Buddhist centers built on the ruins of the ancient capital Kharakorum, visiting Kharkhorin Museum, which contains rare exhibits of the Hun dynasty, overlooking the valley of the Orkhon River, which is rich in historical artifacts. In addition to relaxing in natural hot springs, the trip will be filled with adventure through forests, lakes, valleys and sand dunes. It will be a trip to introduce the central part of Mongolia, even in a short time, where all this is combined with herds of livestock grazing in the rural plains of Mongolia and nomadic culture and tradition that can be found everywhere.

 

DAY 1. ULAANBAATAR

Pick up you at airport, guide make warmest greetings for you and start wonderful trip. Drive to “Chinggisiin Khuree” tourist camp. Name of this camp means “Resident of Chinggis Khaan” and there is museum with costumes, weapons and armory. Have a lunch in this camp. Restaurant was decorated with skin of bear and leopard, furnished handmade and embroidered felt craft. Camp complex was built as XIII century theme. Traditional Mongolian and international dishes are served in the restaurant. Many famous people of the world have visited to this camp like His Holiness Dalai lama and so on. 

After lunch drive to Ulaanbaatar and have a half day city tour which is included Gandan monastery and Sukhbaatar square. The Gandan is the center of Mongolian Buddhism and the only working monastery during the entire communist period. It contains a statue of Megjid-Janraiseg (Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara - called Chenrezig in Tibetan) by 26.5 meters high.

Sukhbaatar Square is the central square of Mongolia's capital Ulaanbaatar. The official name was changed in 2013 in honor of Chinggis Khaan. Here you will see the Government Palace, a bronze colonnade monument to Chinggis Khaan, Mongolian stock exchange building, State Ballet and Opera House, Gallery and a number of other buildings. Beautiful Parliament building and a huge monument to Genghis Khaan, surrounded by skyscrapers, are an interesting contrast to the historic past and the present of the country. 

Have a dinner at restaurant then check in hotel and relax. /L/D/

DAY 2. KHARKHORIN  

Have an early breakfast and leave for Kharkhorin city. On the way, have lunch at a local restaurant. Arriving in Kharkhorin, we will firstly check in the tourist camp. After dinner, you will see the Orkhon river valley. At one period the history,  in the valley of the Orkhon River the Karakorumwas was a capital of the Ancient Mongol Empire, and there are many historical monuments from even earlier times. Watch the sunset in the valley of the Orkhon River. Rest at the tourist camp. /B/L/D/

 

DAY 3. TSENKHER HOT SPRING

After breakfast visit to Erdenezuu monastery built in the 16th century, with 108 buddhis stupas. Here you can see interesting listen to monk chanting Buddhist sutras.This monastery is one of the oldest Buddhist monastery of the Mongolia. Then visit to Kharkhorin museum. The museum construction began in 2007 with funding from the Japan International Cooperation Agency and Japanese Government. The museum opened for first time in 2011. It contains artifacts from excavations in the ruins of Karakorum, also contains artifact from the Hunnu period, Liao dynasty, the Uyghur Khaganate, the Mongol Empire, and Rouran Khaganate. In addition, the museum contains an inscription of the monument of Karakorum, this inscription was created in 1347 under the Togoontumur Khaan reign, this artifact contains inscriptions in traditional Mongolian script and Chinese. Have a lunch at the tourist camp then drive to Tsenkher hot spring. Arrival there check in tourist camp. Relax on the bath of natural hot spring. Overnight at tourist camp. /B/L/D/

DAY 4. KHORGO TERKHIIN TSAGAAN LAKE

Have a breakfast drive to Khorgo Terkhiin Tsagaan lake. On the way you will see Chuluut river canyon. Chuluut River is flowing through the valleys of the Khangai mountains in Central Mongolia.  River Chuluut runs through 20-40m steep canyon of basaltic rock and the rocky canyon continues about 100km. A basaltic rock was caused by magma flow from Khorgo volcano and other volcanoes around it. Chuluut river canyon is rich with springs of hydro carbonate, sulfate, and sodium. Also, there are many petroglyphs those dates back to Neolithic and Bronze Age.  Then drive to Terkhiin Tsagaan lake. Check in tourist camp. Before the dinner hike to Khorgo Volcano. Explore volcano crater and basaltic landscape. Stay in tourist camp near the lake. /B/L/D/

DAY 5. TAIKHAR ROCK

This days after breakfast drive to Taikhar rock. Taikhar Chuluu (Taikhar Rock) is one of the tourist attractions. This big 20-metres high rock stands on a bank of Khoid Tamir River in Ikhtamir soum. It’s covered with 150 writings in many different languages and dating back from many different periods (runic, Sogd, Uyghur, Mongolian, Nangiad, Tibetan writings). The oldest one is the runic writing, related to Turkish period of the 6th and 7th centuries. An ovoo was placed at its top. Unfortunately, there are many graffiti on this rock and the old writings almost disappeared. This cliff was formed by separating from the river bank due to millions of years’ continual flow of Khoid Tamir River through granite cape on its northern bank. The government issued a law to protect the rock in 1994 graffiti. Overnight in the tourist camp. /B/L/D/

DAY 6. ELSEN TASARKHAI

Have a breakfast drive to Elsen Tasarkhai. Elsen Tasarkhai is a part of the Mongol Els sand dunes, that continues 80 km long 5 km wide across Burd, Bulgan and Gurvanbulag soums of Uvurkhangai province. The area is surrounded by sand dunes, hills covered with rare bushes and a small forest near a river. Together this presents a unique combination of Mongolian mountains, forests and Gobi-type landscape in one location. You will have a camel riding tour through sand dune for 1 hours. Overnight at tourist camp. /B/L/D/

DAY 7. ULAANBAATAR

After breakfast drive back to Ulaanbaatar then you will start a city tour which is included Chinggis Khaan Museum.  The Chinggis Khaan museum is the world’s most extensive collection of Chinggis Khaan objects, research and a “must-see” destination. In addition to the collection, the museum includes interactive exhibits, immersive galleries, and cinematic experience. The museum gives opportunity to understand Chinggis Khaan and XIII century of Mongolia. 

Shopping for cashmere and souvenir to State Department store, Gobi cashmere and Tsagaan Alt Felt shop. In the evening you see traditional performance “Tsagaan Lavai” ensemble. After that have a farewell dinner. /B/L/D/

 

DAY 8. DEPARTURE

After breakfast check out hotel and drive to airport. Departure. /B/
