TOUR DESCRIPTION

A bird-watching tour is a trip with the purpose of seeing and studying the birds of one's own country and abroad, based on tourists’ interest of researching birds.  Bird watching tours are the most important part of ecotourism tours. Mongolia has a total of 470 species of birds, and more than 280 species are migratory birds. This tour suggest you different landscapes of the Mongolia and many species of birds in the steppe, Gobi region and lakes.

DAY 1. ULAANBAATAR

After your arrival in have a short tour which is included Gandan monastery and Sukhbaatar square. The Gandan is the center of Mongolian Buddhism and the only working monastery during the entire communist period. It contains a statue of Megjid-Janraiseg (Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara - called Chenrezig in Tibetan) by 26.5 meters high.

Sukhbaatar Square is the central square of Mongolia's capital Ulaanbaatar. The official name was changed in 2013 in honor of Chinggis Khaan. Here you will see the Government Palace, a bronze colonnade monument to Chinggis Khaan, Mongolian stock exchange building, State Ballet and Opera House, Gallery and a number of other buildings. Beautiful Parliament building and a huge monument to Genghis Khaan, surrounded by skyscrapers, are an interesting contrast to the historic past and the present of the country.

Have a dinner at restaurant of downtown. Overnight at the hotel. /L/D/

DAY 2. BAGA GAZRIIN CHULUU

Meet your guide at the hotel lobby and drive to Baga gazriin chuluu which is granite area covering 300 km area. When arrive here check in tourist camp then hike through granite hill, rock and visit to cave where monks used to meditate. Observe birds around area and take a photo. Enjoy hearty dinner at the tourist camp.  /B/L/D/

DAY 3. IKH GAZRIIN CHULUU   

After breakfast drive to Ikh gazriin chuluu. They spread out from west to east covering about 20 kilometers. It is one of the beautiful places with a unique formation of sharp peaks and rugged cliffs. In order to protect natural scenery and geographical features, the Ikh Gazriin Chuluu was taken under the Protected area in 2003, and it was made a Natural Park in 2013. There are many interesting stories about local historic people who had lived or had been hidden in caves from the royalties of that time. These caves are usually named after those people. It has a rich family of plants and is a home to many wild animals and birds. There are vulture, eagles, peregrine falcons and bearded vulture around the Ikh Gazriin Chuluu.  Overnight in tourist camp. /B/L/D/

DAY 4.  TSAGAAN SUVARGA  

After breakfast drive to Tsagaan Suvarga It is colourful cliffs in the Gobi Desert. Once a floor of the ocean, this scarp looks like a white stupa, hence the name Tsagaan suvarga. This scarp is 400 meters long and 60 meters tall with 90 degree brink. After rain, the water pouring down the scarp makes it look like  a huge waterfall. There is interesting cave 7km to the east of Tsagaan Suvarga named Khevtee Bosoo agui /cave/. In this 50 meters long cave, you have to crawl at some point but will be able to walk normally in other parts of the cave, hence the name Khevtee Bosoo agui (Laying Standing cave). This Tsagaan suvarga is located 420 km from Ulaanbaatar. So on the way have a lunch near the Baga gazriin chuluu. The astonishing granitic formation of Baga gazriin chuluu is located in the northwest of the Dundgobi province. Have a lunch at Baga gazriin chuluu tourist camp. This day overnight in the Tsagaan Suvarga tourist camp near the Tsagaan Suvarga. /B/L/D/

DAY 5. YOL VALLEY

After breakfast drive to South Gobi. This day you will visit Yol valley, Mukhar shivert, Dungenee and Oyut museum. Yol valley was originally established to conserve the birdlife in the region, but it's now more famous for its dra-matic and very unusual scenery - it is a valley in the middle of the Gobi Desert, with metres-thick ice almost all year-round.

The small nature museum at the gate on the main road to Yolyn Am has a collection of dinosaur eggs and bones, stuffed birds and a snow leopard. There is also an ethnography museum in a ger. From the museum, the road continues for another 10km to a car park. From there, a pleasant 25-minute walk, following the stream, leads to a gorge full of ice. In winter, the ice is up to 10m high, and continues down the gorge for another 10km. It remains frozen for most of the year, except lor about a month starting in late August.You can walk on the ice - but be careful, especially in late summer.

The surrounding hills offer plenty of opportunities for some fine, if somewhat strenuous, day hikes. If you are lucky you might spot ibex or argali sheep along the steep valley ridges.  It was named Yolyn Am because of the presence of the Yol bird Bearded Vulture. This bird is a protected bird found only in Central Asia and is a rare bird found in the Mongolia which is live at an altitude of 1500-3000 meters. The wingspan reaches 2.5-3 meters. The back is bluish-yellow, the belly is pale, and there is a beard under the chin. It nests at an altitude of more than 1700 meters and usually lays two eggs in February. They feed on animal carrion.

Mukhar Shiver. This location is very similar to Yol valley and it has been made into a protected area. As a result, entering the area by car is forbidden. Like Yol valley, it is frozen almost all year round and is surrounded by rocks. Dungenee /Canyon/ is located in the sum of Bayandalai, southwest Zuun Saikhan Mountain. The region of Dungenee is composed of a pass and a beautiful valley that also has a canyon, not far from Yol valley . The canyon is located at the bottom of a rocky cavity, along which a 12-kilometres (7,46 miles) river flowsFrom Yol valley, the road we take to go to the Khongor sand dunes passes through the splendid area of Dungenee.

This day have a lunch local restaurant in the Dalanzadgad city and dinner and overnight at tourist camp. /B/L/D/

DAY 6. KHONGOR SAND DUNE

After breakfast drive to Khongor sand dune through  Dungenee valley in Zuun Saikhan Mountain. You can see Mongolian Finch, White-winged Snow Finch, Black Redstart, Common and Beautiful Rosefinch, Wall Creeper, Mongolian Accentor, Alpine Accentor Bearded Vulture, Twite and Wallcreeper there. Then head to Khongor sand dunes' length is 180km, width is 3-15km, and height is 15-30m. Forward the sand dunes you can find high Mountains. On the other hand backward is beautiful oasis with river. Thus scenery is splendid. Ride camels via sand dunes. Today's tour is taken place there.On the way hukar, Mongolian Finch, White-winged Snow Finch,  Himalayan Griffon, Golden Eagle, Saker Falcon, Black Redstart, Beautiful Rosefinch, Wall Creeper, Mongolian Accentor, Alpine Accentor and soaring raptors such as Bearded Vulture. /B/L/D/

DAY 7. BAYANZAG FLAMING CLIFF

After delicious breakfast drive to Bayanzag /Flaming cliffs/. This place is the well-known its finds of Dinosaurs' skeletons. In 1920 American paleontologist Roy Chapman Andrews explored this place and gave name Bayanzag/Rich in saxaul/. Flaming cliffs means it is resemble red fire when reddish sun shine it. Especially during sunset. Overnight in tourist camp./B/L/D/

DAY 8. ONGI MONASTERY

This small mountainous area along the river, The Ongi River, in the western sum of Saikhan Ovoo, makes a good resting place to break a trip between the south Gobi and Arvaikheer. It is located in Saihan-Ovoo soum of Dundgovi province. Ongi was established in 1660 and composed of two temple complexes on the North and South banks of the Ongi River. At its peak, Ongi monastery grounds housed around 30 temples, 4 big Buddhism universities and over 1000 monks at a time. This monastery was one of the largest and most respected monasteries of Mongolia before its destruction by the communist authorities. During 1930s, communism spread out throughout Mongolia. As part of their ideological campaign and rise to power, Communists arrested most monks. In 1939, the monastery was destroyed completely, over 200 monks were killed, and many surviving monks were imprisoned or forced to join the Communist controlled army. DAY 9. KHARKHORIN  

After breakfast transfer to Kharkhorin town, ancient capital city of Mongolia which was proclaimed officailly in 1235 by Ugudei Khaan.Visit to the Erdene zuu monastery, one of the largest monastery in Mongolia. It was built in 1586 on the ruin of ancient capital. There was no nail used to build it. After dinner climb to the little hill where you can see the memorial of Mongolain Kings and panoramic view of Kharkhorin town as well as Orkhon river. You have an opportunity to see Golden Eagle on the hand of Kazakh eagle hunters. Overnight in tourist camp. /B/L/D/

DAY 10. UGII LAKE

After delicious breakfast drive to Ugii Lake, raised 1337m above sea level where you can see the several of fishes. The deepest point is 15m.Very fresh lake thus you can swim there.On the way you can see Steppe raptors, Isabelline Wheatear, Short-toed Larks, Mongolian Larks, Demoiselle Crane.  /B/L/D/

DAY 11. ELSEN TASARKHAI

After breakfast drive to Elsen tasarkhai. Elsen Tasarkhai is a part of the Mongol Els sand dunes that continues 80 km long 5 km wide across Burd, Bulgan and Gurvanbulag soums of Uvurkhangai province. It is located 280 km west of Ulaanbaatar and 80 km east of Karakorum - the ancient Mongolian capital. The area is surrounded by sand dunes, hills covered with rare bushes and a small forest near a river. Together this presents a unique combination of Mongolian mountains, forests and Gobi-type landscape in one location.Overnight in tourist camp. /B/L/D/

DAY 12 . MONGOL NOMADIC  

After breakfast drive to Mongol Nomadic Tourist complex. Here, tourists from foreign countries eager to feel the experience of nomadic culture and lifestyle, five main kind of animals, garments, traditional dairy products and food in one place. But, there is not even herder family all of this has been done together and the lives of Mongolian herders have been dominated by the development of modern technology and this consist a different environment and is likely less attracted than their imagination. Overnight in tourist camp./B/L/D/

DAY 13. ULAANBAATAR

Morning earlier drive back to Ulaanbaaar, then you will  start a city tour which is included Chinggis Khaan Museum and Bogd Khaan winter palace museum.  The Chinggis Khaan museum is the world’s most extensive collection of Chinggis Khaan objects, research and a “must-see” destination. In addition to the collection, the museum includes interactive exhibits, immersive galleries, and cinematic experience. The museum gives opportunity to understand Chinggis Khaan and XIII century of Mongolia. 

Shopping for cashmere and souvenir to State Department store, Gobi cashmere and Tsagaan Alt Felt shop. Then have a foot massage. Have a lunch in the “Bull” hot pot restaurant. Afternoon you will visit to Zaisan memorial, Buddha garden and Choijin lama temple museum.  

The Zaisan memorial was erected to commemorate those killed in the WWII between Russia and Mongolia. The monument is a popular day out during public holidays and the summer months. At the base of the hill there is a very large statue of Buddha popular with worshippers and visitors to the country. Buddha Park features a 23 meter tall statue of Buddha. 

The Choijin Lama Temple Museum is an architectural masterpiece of the 19th and 20th century. The monastery was built by Mongolian architects. The temple was built between 1904 and 1908 by the 8th Bogd Khaan Janzandamba and dedicated to his brother lama Luvsankhaidav. The museum has a fine collection of woodcarving, applique, embroidery and sculptures dated back to 17th century. 

In the evening you see traditional performance “Tsagaan Lavai” ensemble. After that have a farewell dinner.

DAY 14. DEPARTURE

After breakfast check out hotel and drive to airport. Departure.
